At Apes Hill Barbados Golf Resort and Community, we believe in breaking the mould by redefining the art of golf. Amidst the rolling greens and panoramic vistas, there's a jewel that embodies our philosophy—the illustrious 19th Hole.

A place where competition meets camaraderie, and where unforgettable moments are born. Let us embark on a journey to unveil this unique gem, where lush greens meet Bajan soul, and every swing tells a story.

Unlocking the Mystery: What Is Apes Hill's 19th Hole?

The art of golfing is brushed across the tapestry of our 18-hole Championship golf course at Apes Hill Barbados, through hues of exquisite fairways, the vibrant strokes of carefully placed bunkers and the textures of nature hugging each hole. At Apes Hill we have now added another elevated dimension to the game. After an intense round meandering through indigenous gullies and surrounded by the refreshing aroma of the pure Atlantic Tradewinds, the 19th Hole stands proudly overlooking the west coast of the island. It is where friendly rivals can settle a tied game - or take a bet for the fun of it - as members and guests cheer on from The Noisy Cricket Bar and Restaurant. The 19th Hole - which takes inspiration from the famous island green at TPC Sawgrass - is the perfect extra challenge to settle a round.

The Scenic Setting of the 19th Hole

The 19th Hole is one of our most iconic holes, ending the journey across the Championship golf course with a view of the Caribbean Sea and Apes Hill’s state-of-the-art Performance Centre. With its lake and island green, the hole offers a dynamic contrast of shades of blue and green, framed by lush tropical gardens. Its idyllic location by the clubhouse, which is home to the Noisy Cricket, as well as its proximity to the 20th Hole Halfway Hut, makes it convenient to experience the delicious, farm fresh cuisine, which has become signature of our resort.

The Journey from Concept to Reality

Much like the Championship course, and Apes Hill’s new nine-hole par-three short course, the 19th Hole was designed by the late and legendary Ron Kirby, and was based on inspiration from other famous island-style greens. It was exquisitely brought to life by our Golf Course Superintendent Ed Paskins and his team. In keeping with Apes Hill’s ethos of sustainability, the lake was filled with rainwater in a similar way to our 58-million-gallon rainwater reservoir, which is used to irrigate the entire course. The 19th Hole makes a visual and playable statement to round up a wonderful day on the greens.

“This 19th Hole is very heroic; it is all or nothing. With water all around you, players must also avoid a treacherous bunker at the front of the green. There is a beautiful bridge as well, so the visual and playability just suit perfectly,” says Ed Paskins.

There is so much to experience at Apes Hill Barbados Golf Resort and Community, starting with an 18-hole masterpiece featuring a beautiful bonus 19th Hole with stunning ocean and sunset views. No other golf course can boast such panoramic views from 1,000ft above sea level in Barbados. Apes Hill is a special place of wonder, where you can experience the luxuries of golf and wholesome island living by booking a short stay with us, or indeed joining our community as a treasured member.
