Life at Apes Hill: Robyn and Louie's Story

As a full-time mum and personal trainer, Robyn has found the perfect place for her family to thrive - where life is all about balance—mixing adventure, relaxation, and a true sense of community.

Robyn and her four year old son, Louie, are the proud owners of one of our beautiful Courtyard Villas here at Apes Hill Barbados. As a full-time mum and personal trainer, Robyn has found the perfect place for her family to thrive - where life is all about balance—mixing adventure, relaxation, and a true sense of community. Whether you’re seeking a fun family life or a peaceful escape, Apes Hill offers the best of both worlds.

Wellness for the Whole Family

For Robyn, one of the biggest attractions of Apes Hill is the wellness-focused lifestyle. Whether you’re into outdoor adventures or just want to slow down and savour each day, Apes Hill has it all. Our state-of-the-art fitness centre, 12.5 km of scenic nature trails, 8 padel courts, 2 tennis courts, and daily sunrise and sunset yoga sessions are just the start. Not to mention, there’s always the option to hop on your bike and explore the island or hit the golf course.

"We have the gym, all the racquet facilities like tennis and padel, and the opportunity to do some hikes, which is just amazing. There are also sunset Pilates and Yoga, so many options. It’s definitely a very strong part of life at Apes Hill." Robyn explains.

It’s not just about staying active either. The food at Apes Hill is a big part of the wellness experience, with its farm-to-fork philosophy that ensures every meal is fresh, nourishing, and delicious. And our chefs love to prepare special menus for younger guests like Louie, with ingredients picked fresh that morning—so everyone, big or small, is well taken care of.

Family Fun on the Course

Robyn’s golf journey began at Apes Hill, and it’s now a whole family activity. The multi-generational aspect of the golf here is one of the things we pride ourselves on - we wanted to create a space where the entire family can play together, regardless of skill level.

"I learned on the Par 3 and then transitioned to the main course. I just absolutely love it, fell in love with the sport," she says. It’s now a regular part of family life, and Louie, coming from a golfing family, is already getting involved. "It’s such a brilliant facility to be able to introduce my four-year-old to golf early. He really doesn’t have much choice—he’s going to play!"

With two courses catering to different skill levels, the whole family can enjoy time on the green. Our Little Apes Par 3 course is a tapestry of challenges and delights, the perfect setting for introducing the joys of golf to your children. Our 18-hole Championship Course was designed by Ron Kirby, with spectacular views over the rugged East Coast. Plus, our state-of-the-art teaching facilities make learning even more fun, especially for the little ones.

Community Life at Apes Hill

What really makes Apes Hill special is the people and community. From seasonal events like Easter celebrations with treasure hunts and kite-making to friendly mixers and group hikes, there’s always an excuse to meet new people, or reconnect with your neighbours.

"We chose Apes Hill Barbados because, well, the location is stunning, and the courtyard villas are breathtaking. But as soon as we came here, just the sense of community was really strong from the beginning.”

And our team members are central to our community, on hand to help with anything you may need, or just to have a chat and drink with. They’re a big part of what makes Apes Hill feel like home.

"My favourite memory here is just the way that Louie interacts with the staff. Every time I come down, they call his name, and he runs up to them to give a fist bump.”

Family Life in Barbados

For Robyn and Louie, Apes Hill isn’t just a holiday spot, it’s their full-time home. And Barbados? It’s the perfect place for families. With an excellent education system, family-friendly activities like zip-lining, cave explorations, horseback riding, and train tours, plus a safe, welcoming environment, it’s no wonder more and more families are choosing to call Barbados home. Learn more about moving to Barbados, what the process is like and what your life will be like.

"We also spent Christmas Day here, which was fabulous. Louie met Father Christmas, and it was such a special day for our family," Robyn says with a smile. Every day here feels like a new adventure, with countless memories waiting to be made.

Fun for the whole family!
