Golf Champion Carly Booth's Iconic Journey

Carly Booth, now 31, is one of the game’s most prolific players, who has been described as a trailblazer for women in golf. She is known as the youngest Scot to qualify for the Ladies European Tour after bursting onto the Scottish golfing scene at the age of 11. The three-time Ladies European Tour winner has played more than 160 tournaments in a near 15-year professional career.

Looking back in time, as a youngster, Booth was able to practise on the course made exclusively for her and her brother, by her father Wally and pro-golfer Wallace Booth at the family farm. Aged 12, she played with Sandy Lyle in the British Masters Pro-Am and at 14 appeared in her first professional event, the Ladies Scottish Open, where she finished 13th.  She was ranked the best junior in Europe following her victory at the European Junior Masters in 2007, the same year she lifted the Scottish Under-18 and Under-21 titles. She made her professional debut on the Ladies European Tour at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco. She won her first event in May 2012 at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, and the second the following month at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open. Her third win came in August 2019, when she won the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.

To say her achievements are inspiring is an understatement. Her success and passion for the sport make Booth an ideal partner for Apes Hill Barbados. She will be a regular at Apes Hill, as the golf resort and community’s newest partner, making the most of our state-of-the-art Performance Centre and practice facilities. Her impact and influence in the world of women’s golf have been tremendous and this newfound partnership aims to elevate women in golf and share her story to inspire other female golfers.

Footsteps of Carly Booth at Our Resort

Booth first visited Apes Hill in December 2023, where she had an opportunity to play a round with the legendary former World No.1 and Apes Hill Brand Ambassador, Ian Woosnam. You can read more here about our partnership with Ian Woosnam here.

Like Woosnam, Booth became completely enamoured with the spellbinding views of Apes Hill and the intricate craftsmanship and complexity of the course, along with the resort’s state-of-the-art amenities.

Booth will conduct specialised teaching clinics for Apes Hill members and guests, utilising the advanced facilities and technology of the Performance Centre, during her four annual visits throughout 2024.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Booth says: “I am thrilled to be working with Apes Hill Barbados as the range of golfing facilities on offer continues to grow. The Performance Centre is the perfect training ground for developing golfers, with limitless potential from a teaching perspective, so I am excited to get started.”
