Apes Hill Barbados is owned by Apes Hill (Barbados) Inc. This is led by primary shareholder Glenn J. Chamandy, Founder and CEO of Gildan Activewear, who purchased the property in 2019 to create a laid-back, sustainability-focused golf resort and community. Membership is through ownership, with golf course homes now available. Sunil Chatrani, shareholder and Executive Chairman, brings over 30 years of hospitality experience and was awarded Caribbean Hotelier of the Year by the Caribbean Hotel and Association in January 2019.

Apes Hill is located in the Parish of Saint James on the west coast of Barbados. This thriving part of the island is famed for its designer shops and world-class restaurants, as well as some of the best golf courses in the Caribbean.

All the family are welcome, including pets, just make sure you inform the guest experience team before you arrive.

Yes, there are direct flights to Barbados from UK, Canada and US. We welcome private tours for prospective property owners. These can be arranged through ownership@apeshill.com.

There is nothing like the sanctuary of a welcoming clubhouse after a challenging 18 holes of golf and the Apes Hill Barbados Clubhouse doesn’t disappoint. The ideal place to have a refreshing post-match drink. The clubhouse also has meeting facilities for when you’re mixing work with pleasure and a terrace overlooking the course for the perfect cocktail.

No, the Polo Club is its own residential community located across the street from Apes Hill Barbados. Under the previous developer, the access between the two was combined; now they are distinct and separate communities.

To be a member at Apes Hill Barbados, you must own a property. The one-time club initiation fee is US$200,000, included in the developer pricing of your home.

Annual membership is US$20,000 and provides access to our resort and all facilities for you and all your family.

Membership covers access to the golf courses and all facilities for you and your family. Adult children (over the age of 26) and guests are welcome to visit and can access the facilities when visiting you, with applicable fees for golf.

There is only one level of Club Membership, which provides access to all the facilities within our resort and our beach club.

No, membership is available exclusively through ownership. Either you or your immediate family must own a property at Apes Hill to join.

Members are welcome to bring guests to enjoy our world-class golf course. Short stay guests staying in one of our villa rentals are welcome to use our courses and amenities.

Apes Hill’s Championship Golf Course was designed by distinguished golf course architect the late Ron Kirby. Ron’s career has spanned five decades and has earned him the reputation of one of the most respected and appreciated golf course designers in the industry. He has incorporated the rich natural heritage of Barbados and the Apes Hill location into the beautiful design of the course to create a truly beautiful golfing experience.

Whether you are looking for one-to-one golf instruction or would like to invite your favourite foursome for a group class, the Apes Hill Barbados Performance Centre offers all the essential tools to improve your game. We offer golf tuition using the Launch Monitor technology and high-speed camera systems. We also offer a floodlit driving range to practise your golf swing in the Barbados sunshine or under the stars.

Our Golf Performance Centre is the first of its kind in the Caribbean and offers all that amateur and professional golfers alike would need to perfect their technique. This includes full swing analysis and putt view so our professionals can aid you in all elements of your swing. Within the centre, you can also get your brand new set of clubs fitted by our experienced staff supported by the latest technology to ensure you are matched with the perfect equipment.

Remove the burden of travelling with golf clubs. Apes Hill Barbados has the latest, premium sets for hire: men’s and women’s sets, left and right-handed, and sets for junior players. Hires can be made from the Performance Centre where our dedicated, experienced team can fit the clubs to each individual.

Yes, golf carts are the best way to traverse the Championship Golf Course here at Apes Hill Barbados and ensure the most efficient experience whilst you are with us. Therefore, golf carts are compulsory and hire costs will be incorporated into your membership fees and green fees.

With five 18 hole courses on the island, Barbados is at the forefront of island golfing within the Caribbean. These championship courses are designed by leading names in golf such as Ron Kirby (Apes Hill), Tom Fazio (Sandy Lane) and Robert Trent Jones Jr. (Royal Westmoreland).

Yes, our championship course opened in 2022 and was designed by the world-renowned golf course architect the late Ron Kirby, who also designed the Old Head Golf Links in Ireland course, placing it among the golf course elite, and accompanied by its setting, will set it out as one of the leading golfing destinations in the world.


The full golf offering includes our par-71 18 hole championship course, our Little APes par-3 9 hole course, an island green 19th hole, a golf performance and teaching centre, practice facilities, and a golf pro shop.

Yes! The course has been designed to be fun yet challenging, making it ideal for beginners or younger members of the family but at the same time, providing a challenge for the more accomplished golfer.

Tee times are available from 7am till sundown.

We anticipate the course would take no more than an hour for a 4 ball. Little Apes is a par 3 walking course, we encourage you to take 3 clubs, a wedge, a putter and a beer!

For any members or short stay guests who would like to brush up on their skills, check out our new golf performance and teaching centre, where you can refine your game and speak to our expert coaches. Playing lessons on the Championship course or Little Apes are also available for those staying at the resort.

It’s open to all guests and members staying at Apes Hill Barbados, no matter your ability. We offer the essential tools to progress your game and our expert coaches will happily create a personalised plan to suit your skillset.

Our ProShop is open daily from 6:30am to 6pm, ready to cater to all your golfing needs.

You'll find there are no restrictions on foreign ownership: residents and non-residents are treated the same in Barbados with respect to the ability to purchase property.

The two primary methods in which Barbados property is purchased are:
- Domestic conveyance
- Transfer ofshares of 
an offshore company owning the Barbados property.

Yes. Barbados welcomes international buyers and there are no restrictions on purchasing real estate for non-nationals.
Non-national buyers will need to seek permission first from the Barbados Central Bank. This is merely a formality and the local attorney will manage this process as well as the registration of foreign currency coming in to Barbados, so that when a non-national decides to resell their home, they may apply to take the foreign currency back out of Barbados.

Once a price is agreed and a local attorney is engaged, it will typically take between 60-90 days to close the purchase of a property. If a local mortgage is involved, it may take slightly longer. Our property sales team are on hand to help take you through the process.

Attorney fees in Barbados are regulated on a fixed scale, typically 1%–2.5% plus 17.5% VAT. Other fees may vary, so we recommend speaking to our team for more information.

Our resort doesn't have an on-site shop, but there are many local supermarkets and grocery stores just a short drive away. Some suppliers also offer delivery service!

Yes we do, our Golf Course Superintendent Ed Paskins (who is also our resident sustainability and nature specialist) and his team lead regular guided hikes through the trails, and private hikes for groups can also be arranged.

Our trails are open year-round, and the Guest Experience team can arrange a guided hike at a time that suits you.

You’ll find brand-new washrooms and a pavilion lounge area set around a beautifully landscaped plaza, an inviting spot to relax after a match. Amenities are for members and guests staying at the resort.

If you’re not an avid golfer or just want to expand on your exercise regime at the resort, you can book a slot on our padel or tennis courts, join a yoga class, head to our temporary gym with state-of-the-art equipment, venture through our nature hiking trails or simply go for a swim in the privacy of your own garden!

To allow our members and guests to make the most of these facilities, the first booking can be made as early as 7am and the last booking of the day is 7pm.

Beach access is available through our partners and, from November 2025, at our exclusive Beach Club — both just a short shuttle ride from the resort.

Our beach access options for Apes Hill Barbados members and guests are just a short journey from our resort. Holetown is just over 10 minutes away and the East Coast beaches are around 15.

Our Guest Experience Team can order you a taxi to take you to and from the beach, or you can opt to drive.


For added convenience, we now offer a dedicated shuttle service making it effortless to transition from the green of the fairways to the blue of the ocean.
