What's On In August

August in Barbados is a vibrant celebration of culture, heritage, and community. On August 1st, the island honours Emancipation Day, commemorating the abolition of slavery. The day is marked by parades, cultural exhibitions, and performances that reflect Barbados' rich history and resilience.

From 22 to 31 August 2025, CARIFESTA XV returns to Barbados. This vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture will animate the island with music, movement, art, theatre and culinary traditions.

Visitors can explore colourful street parades, browse handcrafted works by regional artisans, sample bold Caribbean flavours, and experience storytelling through dance and performance. One moment may offer a taste of something spicy and sweet, the next a front-row view of a timeless folk tradition.

Crop Over Festival

The month kicks off with the culmination of the Crop Over Festival, highlighted by the Grand Kadooment on the first Monday of August. This spectacular carnival parade features vibrant costumes, energetic dancing, and the infectious rhythms of soca music, offering an unforgettable experience for those seeking cultural immersion.

Discover the upbeat rhythms of traditional Calypso music on the first day of August at the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals in the National Botanical Gardens. Just a few days later in the same gardens, Soca 25 switches up the energetic beats with electronic influences, bringing more of a party style to the occasion.

At Apes Hill Barbados, we provide a serene retreat amidst the festivities. Our elevated location offers a tranquil atmosphere, allowing guests to relax and reconnect while still being within reach of the island's vibrant celebrations.
