Life as a Member at Apes Hill Barbados

Membership begins with homeownership, but it quickly becomes something more. Perched 1,000 feet above sea level, Apes Hill is where families, couples, and friends live with a shared sense of connection and purpose.

Days unfold at your own pace. Golf is central, but not singular. Life here has a quiet rhythm that feels intentional and grounded, enriched by the simple pleasures of good living. This is a community where generations come together through sport, nature, and time spent together.

Morning: Calm, Connection and Open Space

As the island wakes up, mornings at Apes Hill feel peaceful and unhurried. Light paints the fairways with golden hues, and the breeze through the gullies carries the sound of birdsong. Guests ease into the day with a quiet trail hike, a coffee on the veranda, or that first swing on the tee.

The course is quiet in the early hours. Whether you're sharpening your swing at the Performance Centre or stepping up to our 18-hole Championship Course (designed by the late Ron Kirby), the pace is always yours to set.

For those checking in with work, high-speed Wi-Fi and shaded patios make it easy to reply to emails or join a call without missing a moment of the view.

Midday: Play, Pause and Reconnect

By midday, the rhythm of the day shifts as members move easily between activity and rest. Some head back out for 18 holes, while others take on the par-3 Little Apes course. With tailored training programmes from PGA professional Jody, every player can refine their game, whatever their level. At the Racquet Centre, a regular crowd gathers, with Padel and tennis players making the most of the midday sun.

Elsewhere, the pace softens as the spa, pool, or a quiet terrace invite moments of calm to unwind, read, or simply breathe.

As the afternoon unfolds, members gather for lunch. The Noisy Cricket and The 20th Hole serve dishes that are fresh and unfussy, where local flavours and easy conversation blend into an atmosphere that makes it all too easy to linger a little longer than planned.

Afternoon: Your Time, Your Way

The afternoon is whatever you need it to be. Some explore the coastline, local markets or Holetown’s galleries. Others stay close to home, enjoying the quiet of their villa or a drink by the pool.

Families can head to Little Apes par-three together. Kids take their first swings while parents and grandparents walk the course, lend a hand if their drink allows, or play along. Afterwards, it’s Padel, pool plunges and a pick-me-up, all within reach and still together.

Community at Apes Hill forms naturally. A walk can turn into a shared dinner. A wave from a golf cart often leads to drinks on the terrace. Even those working remotely find time for connection, with places like the Treetop Meeting Room offering privacy and calm when needed.

When the sea calls, members have preferred access to our Beach Club on the island’s tranquil northwest coast, a place to unwind barefoot in the sand or swim, snorkel, and paddleboard. Members enjoy complimentary loungers, umbrellas, and towels, along with a daily amenity service featuring sunglass cleaning, refreshing sorbets, chilled towels, and seasonal canapés delivered throughout the day. As the light begins to shift, settle in for a sunset cocktail with rolling waves as your soundtrack.

Evening: Light, Conversation and Familiar Faces

As the sun begins to set, the resort draws together. Members gather at the Clubhouse terrace or the 19th hole lookout to enjoy the light and the company.

Evenings might bring a wine tasting, a casual cocktail hour, or a barbecue on the lawn. Children play nearby while adults relax. Some nights are quieter, spent together in the comfort of your villa, where a private chef prepares dinner using local ingredients and the day winds down over shared plates and conversation.

Our Concierge team is here to personalise each day around how you like to live. Spa and wellbeing treatments are available in the comfort of your villa. Childcare, personal shopping and island excursions can all be arranged with ease. Golf instruction, cultural events and time on the water are planned with the same level of care, so that every moment feels considered and effortless.

The setting is elegant, but the tone is always easy. People know each other here. That’s part of the charm.

Membership Through Ownership

Apes Hill is private by design. Membership comes from property ownership, offering full access to golf, wellness, dining and all resort facilities. Guests are welcome, but the community remains intimate.

Every generation finds their place here. Parents, children and grandparents enjoy time together and apart, often within the same afternoon. You’ll see three generations playing golf, walking nature trails or sharing stories over lunch.

The homes themselves are designed to reflect the land around them. Spacious, open, and connected to the outdoors. Every villa offers space to host, to rest, and to feel at home.

See It for Yourself

The best way to understand life at Apes Hill is to experience it. Spend a day here, speak to the people who live it, and see how quickly the place becomes familiar.
